Operation Sea Guardian aiming to contribute to NATO’s maritime security, global peace and stability in Eastern Mediterranean, continues with Focused Operation. Conducted between 04-19 February 2017, participating nations including Italy, Turkey and Greece have been testing to deter and diminish maritime threats along with maintain situational awareness at sea security on an area of responsibility or a specific area of interest. Turkish Captain Emre SEZENLER is serving as the Task Group Commander ,leading the Task Group from Turkish frigate TCG GAZİANTEP. Focused operations dedicate different types of assets under NATO operational control to developing and maintaining an accurate reflection of daily life in Eastern Mediterranean. Apart from operational tasks, guest navies’ ITS AVIERE (Italy)and HS NAVARINON (Greece) visited Aksaz Naval Base, receiving a briefing on Multinational Maritime Security Centre of Excellence. Turkish Navy’s TCG AKAR and maritime patrol aircraft( P-235) have been also supporting the operation. Turkish, Italian and Greek are still operating in the region to conduct Focus Operation.
