Exercise DENİZYILDIZI, one of the large-scale exercises of Turkish Naval Forces, was conducted between 27 March-07 April 2017 in the Black Sea. During the operational phase;
a. On March 31st, a series of guided missile launches including Harpoon Block-2 from surface ship to land and submerged launch of SubHarpoon from submarine to surface ship were executed.
b. Simulating possible threats against ships under real warfare conditions, high velocity high tech unmanned aerial surface targets were fired during a combat scenario that included RAM, Sea Sparrow, Evolved Sea Sparrow, SM-1 and Stinger guided missile launches along with gunnery firings.
c. Following the firings, participating units made port calls to Varna, Bulgaria; Batumi, Georgia; Constanta, Romania; Novorossiysk, Russia and Odessa, Ukraine along with Turkish ports of Amasra, Hopa, İğneada, İnebolu, Karadeniz Ereğli, Rize, Samsun, Sinop, Trabzon and Ünye. The ships were opened for public visits and families of martyrs together with veterans were hosted on board.
d. Subsequently, Turkish Navy ships conducted PASSEX with the aim of enhancing interoperability and cooperation among littoral states in the Black Sea.
