Exercise DENİZ YILDIZI-2017 concluded with success after participating ships returned to their homeport on 7 April 2017. It was one of Turkish Navy’s scheduled exercises which was attended by Turkish Navy’s 10 frigates, 3 corvettes, 5 submarines, 6 fast patrol boats, 2 patrol boats, 1 amphibious ship, 7 auxiliary ships, 10 helicopters, 1 maritime patrol aircraft along with Coast Guard’s search and rescue ship, coast guard boats and helicopter as well as Air Forces’ airborne early warning aircraft and F-16 aircraft with 3000 personnel in total.
During operational phase, a series of combat scenarios simulating possible threats against ships under real warfare conditions were successfully executed. It also included Harpoon Block-II, Subharpoon, SM- 1, RAM, Sea Sparrow and Evolved Sea Sparrow guided missile launches, by which unmanned aerial and surface targets were demolished . Turkish Navy ships conducted port-calls to local ports in Turkey along with Varna, Batumi, Constanta, Novorossiysk and Odessa during in-port phase of the exercise. Ships were open for public tour. While in port, families of martyrs together with veterans were hosted on board ships. Exercise DENİZ YILDIZI ended by a series of training in the Black Sea.
