Logistics Support Ship Project
Two Logistics Support Ships are under construction in SELAH Shipyard in İstanbul in accordance with Turkish Navy logistic needs.
The first Logistic Support Ship YZB.GÜNGÖR DURMUŞ was launched on October 8th 2016 and the second one ÜTĞM.ARİF EKMEKÇİ on July 8th 2017.
It is expected to have the first ship delivered to Turkish Navy in January 2018 and the second one in March 2018.
Logistics Support Ship “ÜSTEĞMEN ARİF EKMEKÇİ” was launched on July 8th 2017 with an official ceremony in SELAH shipyard in İstanbul.
Overall length 106.51 m.,
Maximum beam 16.8 m.,
Loading capacity 6150 tons.
Speed, +12 nautical miles per hour.
Range (at economic speed) is around 9500 nautical miles.
Submarine Rescue Mother Ship (MOSHIP) and Rescue and Towing Ship Projects
Turkish Naval Forces started the procurement process for a “Submarine Rescue Mother Ship” (MOSHIP) which will have capability to rescue during high seas at/in sea. Installed with deep rescue equipment/systems, the MOSHIP's main roles will be to provide life support to the crews of damaged submarines, to provide submarine rescue from 600 m, to handle rescue and salvage operations for surface ships and to provide underwater repair works and wreck removal.
Besides, Turkish Navy is procuring Rescue and Towing Ships which will have capability to rescue during high seas at/in sea as well. Rescue and Towing Ships will perform surface ship salvage and towing activities, will play a support role in submarine rescue operation, a role for target ship in exercise and fire extinguishing role at sea. The overall aim of the projects is to provide an effective and available national based submarine rescue capability with minimum life cycle cost and interoperable with NATO assets.
Projects are being conducted in the scope of the contract which was signed between Undersecretariat of Defense Industry (SSM) and Istanbul Denizcilik Insa ve San.Tic.A.S on October 28th 2011.
MOSHIP TCG ALEMDAR was taken into inventory on January 28th 2017. New Rescue and Towing Ships; IŞIN and AKIN are expected to be in service in the second half of 2017.
Capabilities of TCG ALEMDAR:
Life support to submarine that sunk (SUBSUNK)
Rescue of SUBSUNK personnel from 600 meters max depth within 72 hours.
Underwater salvage and rescue operations,
Underwater repair and wreckage recovery.
Within the content of the project, TCG IŞIN was taken into delivery on 22th July 2017. The construction of AKIN continue, which is planned to be taken into service by the second half of 2017.
Combat Support Ship Project
Combat Support Ship project has been commenced in order to support deployed national and multinational task forces in all seas around the world.
The main missions of Combat Support Ship are administrative and logistic support and under this scope provide command and control support. In addition, the ship will support amphibious operations, peace support operations and humanitarian aid operations.
Design activities have already completed by Turkish Navy. SSM promulgated RfP for construction of the ship. Tenders have been received by SSM on September 30th 2016.
Construction work will begin by the company that will be selected by the Defence Executive Committee.
