Turkish Naval Forces


Lieutenant Meral KARAASLAN ERZURUM has been serving at Aksaz Naval Base Command. Beginning shooting sport when she was at Naval Academy in 1999, she won a series of first grades and medals during Armed Forces Championship and competitions held by Naval Forces and Military Academies in category of airgun and firearm.

She successfully represented Naval Forces, maintaining her success during Turkish  Armed Forces Airgun and Firearm Competitions. In 2005, she gained the 3rd grade among women in Turkish Armed Forces Firearms Championship, succeeding in getting into Turkey’s National Military Team. Lieutenant ERZURUM attended International Military Sports Council Championship with Military Team held in India in 2007, in Croatia in 2009, in Brazil in 2010, in China in 2012. She won the7 th grade (in prone position among individuals) in CISM’s Shooting Championship in Croatia in 2009.   

Lieutenant Meral KARAASLAN ERZURUM set the record of Turkish Armed Forces in “60 Shooting in Prone Position” with 595 shooting scores during Turkish Armed Forces Firearms Championship in 2010.

She won 27 gold, 15 silver and 14 bronze medals during national competitions held by Turkish Shooting Federation. She competed in National Shooting Team. She successfully represented our country with National Shooting Team during European Championship in Croatia and Mediterranean Games in Italy in 2009, in the World Championship in Germany in 2010, European Championship in Croatia in 2013 and Mediterranean Games in Turkey. Lieutenant ERZURUM won the 6th individual grade in competition of “Shooting in 3 Positions” in Mediterranean Games in 2009.

Lieutenant ERZURUM raised her record of “60 Shooting in Prone Position” that she got in Air Guns and Firearms Championship in 2015. She has been holding her record of 613.4.
